Privacy policy — Stagira
Effective 7 November 2026
Stagira is a habit and day-count tracker. This policy explains what happens to the information you put into it. In short: it stays on your phone unless you choose to sync it to your own Google account, and we never receive it.
What the app stores
Your goals (names, notes, start dates, slips, urges resisted, schedules, targets and settings) are stored on your device, in storage only this app can read. There is no Stagira account and no Stagira server, no analytics or tracking code, no ads and nothing to buy.
Optional sync with Google Drive
If you turn on sync, the app saves a copy of your ledger to a hidden app-data folder in your
own Google Drive, using Google’s drive.appdata permission. That permission lets the app see
only its own folder, not any of your other files. The copy is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS)
connection. If you set a sync passphrase, the copy is also encrypted on your phone before it
is uploaded (AES-256-GCM), so it can’t be read without your passphrase, including by Google or
by us. Google’s handling of your Drive is covered by
Google’s privacy policy.
You can stop syncing at any time in Settings → Sync → Disconnect, which also revokes the app’s access and can delete the synced copy.
Private titles, app lock and reminders
Private titles and their notes are encrypted with a PIN you choose. The app lock uses your phone’s own fingerprint, face or screen lock; the app never sees your fingerprint or face, only whether Android confirmed it. Reminder and weekly-review notifications are generated on your phone and never name your goals.
Bug reports and feature requests
If you send a report from Settings → Help & feedback, the app opens your own email app or web browser with the message filled in, and you choose whether to send it. If you include device details, they are the app version, Android version and phone model. Reports never include your goals. We use reports only to fix problems and improve the app, and reply from admin.toolcrate@gmail.com. Messages sent by email or GitHub are also subject to those services’ policies.
If the app crashes, the technical details (the error and where in the app’s code it happened, never your goals or notes) are saved on your phone. Next time you open Stagira it offers to send them as a bug report, which you see in full and send yourself, or you can dismiss it. Nothing is sent automatically.
Test versions from GitHub
Test versions downloaded from the project’s GitHub page (not from Google Play) check GitHub’s public release list about twice a day, to tell you when a newer test version is out. That request carries nothing about you or your ledger; GitHub sees only that a request was made. The version from Google Play doesn’t do this: Play updates it.
Sharing
We don’t sell your data, and we never receive your goals. The only data that reaches a third party through the app is described above: your own Google Drive, if you turn on sync.
Deleting your data
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on your phone.
- To delete the synced copy: Settings → Sync → Disconnect with “Also delete the synced copy” ticked, or in Google Drive on the web: Settings → Manage apps → Stagira → Delete hidden app data.
Children
Stagira is intended for adults and isn’t directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at the same address with a new effective date.
